Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 5 cloves (laung)
  • 1 blade mace (jaiphal)

Method

Step 1. Wash and drain the watermelon. Cut into sections to get the seeds out. Set aside.

Step 2. Heat oil in a pan on a medium flame. Add cumin seeds, laung, and jaiphal. Fry for 2 minutes.

Step 3. Add sliced watermelon and mix well with the mixture in the pan by stirring continuously until the watermelon is heated through and soft( for about 5 minutes).

Step 4. Add tomatoes and stir well. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.

Step 5. Add salt, red chili powder, garam masala, and dried mango powder. Mix well and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on a medium flame.

Step 6. Add the coriander leaves and celery leaves and mix gently. Cover the pan with a lid for a few minutes to allow the flavors to mingle well (for the taste buds).

Step 7. Switch off the flame. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve hot.
