How To Make A Sinful Cake Recipe?

Ingredients

For the sponge cake layers:

  • 3/4 cup of butter, softened (1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar (3 and 1/2 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (vanilla seeds can be added to the sponge layers too if you like)
  • 5 eggs

For the chocolate cream filling:

  • 1 cup of heavy cream (1.5/2 cup)
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar (4/5 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (vanilla seeds can be added to the sponge layers too if you like)

Chocolate Spread

  • Chocolate Filling 750 g
  • Chocolate Topping 480 g
  • Cocoa Powder 60 g
  • Milk 400 g

We also need:

8 ounces of semisweet chocolate, chopped into small pieces

Making Instruction

1. Preheat your oven to 350° F / 175° C. Lightly grease 2, 7-inch round cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper cut to fit the pans.

2. In the bowl of your mixer, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time and beat thoroughly after each addition. Add the vanilla and mix well.

3. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for about 15 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to finish cooling.

4. For the chocolate cream filling

Combine all ingredients in your mixer bowl and beat on low speed until smooth. If it is too stiff, add a tablespoon of milk at a time. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

5. For the chocolate spread

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

6. To assemble the cake, place one of the sponge layers on your serving plate. Spread with about 1/4 cup of the chocolate spread, then top with about 1/4 cup of chocolate cream filling (1/2 cup if using 3/4 cup of cream). Repeat with the second layer of the sponge.

7. Frost the top of your cake with the remaining cream, and sprinkle with chopped chocolate pieces.

Notes:
