Step 3: Add 2 teaspoons of garam masala powder, 1/4 teaspoon of asafoetida powder, and salt to taste.

Step 4: Add dried red chili and coriander leaves to the onion paste (Tikki), and mix it well. Let the Tikki cook for a few minutes.

Step 5: Add ground toor dal and mix it well with the onion paste.

Step 6: Prepare the tempering of mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, and curry leaves in a small pan. Add the prepared tempering to the Tikki mixture and let it cook for a few minutes.

Step 7: Mix maida powder in 1/4 cup of water and add it to the Tikki mixture as required for thickening.

Step 8: Add salt and remaining garam masala powder to the Tikki mixture and mix it well.

Step 9: Add about 1/4 cup of water, cover the pan and let it cook for 5 minutes till the dal becomes tender.
