Ingredients
- 1 Package White Cake Mix
- 2 Packages of Vanilla Instant Pudding (4-1/2 ounces Each)
- 3 cups Whole Milk
- 1 2/3 Cups Water
- 5 Fl Oz Butter, Melted, or Crisco Shortening. (Don’t Use Margarine!)
- 4 Large Eggs, Separated into Whites and Yolks.
- 20 Maraschino Cherries
- 1 1-1/2 Pounds of Fondant (Makes a Decent 8-Inch Cake)
Prepare
Step 1. Preheat oven to 350o Fahrenheit. Mix dry ingredients well in a large bowl. Add milk and water and stir until just combined.
Step 2. Fold egg whites into the mixture. Spray two 8inch round cake pans with cooking spray and line with wax paper or parchment paper circle. Spray or flour the wax or paper (be sure to grease it) so that the fondant cake does not stick to it as it will be rolled out.
Step 3. Pour half of the batter into each pan and bake for 20-30 minutes or until a toothpick is inserted in the center and comes out clean. Cool on wire racks for 35 minutes.
Step 4. Prepare vanilla pudding according to package directions, use 3 cups of milk instead of water, and add 3 tablespoons of butter to the pudding while cooking. Add 1 cup cooled cake mix and stir until combined.
Step 5. While the cake is cooking, prepare the fondant by mixing 1 package of white fondant with 4 cups of cold water, add food coloring if desired. Once the cakes have cooled for about 15 minutes, spread 1 cup of cinnamon pudding into each cake and cover with top. Roll out both cakes with your hands and rolling pin or a small rolling pin until they are one size marble or circle.
Step 6. Place your fondant on a flat surface and knead it until all the lumps are gone. Make sure you do Not overwork the cake. If you do, the fondant will be too soft and fall off the cake, so I used Crisco shortening. Roll out your fondant to about 1/4″-1/8″ thick. Lay the fondant on a flat surface and cut out your pig face.
