Ingredients
Vanilla Macarons
- 2/3 cup confectioners sugar (powdered sugar)
- 1 1/2 cups almond meal (ground almonds)
- 3 tablespoons granulated white sugar
- 3 large egg whites, room temperature
- 1/3 cup granulated white sugar (for the macaron shells)
Prepare
Step 1.
Preheat your oven to 300 degrees F. Grease your baking tray, line it with parchment paper, and then set aside.
Step 2.
Mix the confectioner’s sugar, almond meal, and white sugar until combined in a large bowl. Then add the egg whites and mix for about 1-2 minutes until the mixture becomes thick and shiny.
Step 3.
Transfer the mixture to a piping bag with a large round tip. Pipe the mixture onto your prepared baking tray, and make sure to leave about 1/4 inch of space at the top. Gently smooth out any bumps or cracks that you may have.
Step 4.
Bake for 30 minutes or until the edges of the macarons start to turn golden brown, then let them cool down on a wire rack.
Step 5.
Once they are cooled, pipe chocolate filling on top of each macaron shell.

The moisture in the air can make a macaron fail, so if you intend to bake them outside, keep them in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before putting them in the oven.
