How To Make Cuttlefish Curry Recipe?

Details Prep Time: 10 mins

Cook Time: 60 mins

Total Time: 1 hr

Serves: 4 people

Ingredients

  • Cuttlefish
  • 1/2 pound of cuttlefish, washed and cleaned [or a mix of fish of your choice, if you can get it]
  • Curry Mix:
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, chopped   (I used white onion)
  • 5 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1-inch fresh ginger root, peeled and grated or minced (about 2 teaspoons)
  • Four whole red chilies or 1 teaspoon ground chili red peppers   (I used 2-3 Thai chilies)  (optional)  to taste.
  • 2 tablespoons of toasted sesame seeds
  • 3-4 tablespoons coconut milk (I used homemade coconut milk)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or according to your taste)

Prepare

Step 1. Sauté the onions in a little bit of oil for about 2 minutes. Add the garlic and ginger and fry an additional 2 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent.

Step 2. Add the chili peppers (if you are using whole peppers, slit them open before adding them to the curry) and cook until they are slightly browned, about another minute or so.

Step 3. Toss in all of your curry mix items, stirring rapidly with a fork to keep things on track. When all the seasonings are incorporated, add your beef and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes or until the beef is cooked through.

Step 4. Heat about 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. You will be frying your cuttlefish in this oil, so make sure not to burn it! Add the cuttlefish and fry it on each side until browned when bubbling.

Step 5. Serve with rice, flatbreads, or naan bread. Delicious with a bowl of rasam, soup, or yogurt.

Note

  1. If you are not mood to make your curry mix, you can buy a ready-made one at any grocery store.
  2. If you like spicy dishes, add more chili peppers and coconut milk.
  3. If you have any leftovers, use them as a filling for burritos, tacos, or sandwiches!
  4. This is just a summary of this great blog article:  I made this recipe with chicken instead of beef. It turned out pretty well, and the flavor blended quite well with the chicken.
  5. Tangy Thai Peanut Sauce is one of my favorite dipping sauces for noodles and as a salad dressing. It’s so quick and easy to make, and it packs a ton of flavor.
