- 1 tbsp – ginger paste
- 1 tsp – garlic paste
- 1/2 cup – ground coconut or 1 cup – coconut milk
- 3 tsp – chili powder
- 1 tsp – cumin powder
- 2 tsp – coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp – turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 3 tbsp – oil

1. Heat the oil in a pan, add the chopped onions and stir fry till they turn soft. Add the green chilies and fry on slow flame for a few seconds. Add ginger paste and garlic paste, mix well & cook for another minute or so.
2. In a blender, add ground coconut, tamarind juice, chili powder, cumin & coriander powder, and blend to make a smooth paste.
3. Add the paste to the frying onions and give it a quick stir. Add coconut milk, turmeric, salt, & water to make it a little watery, and cook on slow flame until the gravy has thickened.
4. Add fish pieces and tomatoes to the gravy & cook covered on medium flame till the fish is cooked & tender (about 5-8 minutes).
5. Check the taste and add more salt, chili powder, or coconut milk if required.
6. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
