  • 4 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 + 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Preparation

Step-1.

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step-2.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating on slow speed between each addition.

Sift both flours and baking soda into the bowl along with salt and mix thoroughly. Stir in milk or water and vanilla extract until just combined (do not over mix).
