Step-3. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and let it crackle.

Step-4. Add sliced onions and saute for 2 minutes on medium flame.

Step-5. Add chopped green chilies, half of the ground paste, and mix well for 3 minutes on medium flame till raw smell goes off.

Step-6. Add besan, red chili powder, garam masala, black pepper powder, and salt. Mix well.

Step-7. Add 2 cups of boiling water slowly and stir continuously to avoid lumps.

Step-8. Stir and mix till the gravy becomes smooth and thickens slightly. Add more water if required. It should not be too thin or too thick.

Step-9. Add boiled rice to the gravy and mix well for 2 minutes on medium flame.

Step-10. Cook for 2 minutes, then remove from flame.

Step-11. Add a handful of cashew nuts and mix well. Turn the lid to hold in the heat and steam for 5 minutes to cook the rice.
